Sir Nicholas Stern on Oxfam's Adapting to climate change report

The author of the Stern Review Report on the Economics of Climate Change gives his support to Oxfam's research

"Climate change will affect us all but it is the poorest and most vulnerable communities that suffer first and worst: yet it is they who have contributed the least to its cause.

"Thus Oxfam is right to highlight the vital importance of developed country transfers to the funding of the sound and sustainable development that can provide both rising living standards and the greater resilience that a changing climate will require. And Oxfam's numbers on how much more expensive this development will become are in the right ball-park.

"Strong action on adaptation must proceed side-by-side with efforts to curb emissions. Justice requires that rich countries should take the lead."

Rajendra K. Pachauri, (Chair of the IPCC) also comments on Oxfam’s Climate Change report on ft.com.
