Middle East crisis 2006

During the month-long conflict, between Israel and Lebanon, around a million Lebanese people fled their homes.

  • Thousands of civilians injured and killed
  • Much of southern Beirut flattened by bombs
  • Essential infrastructure severely damaged

In response to the month-long war between Israel and Lebanon in July 06, Oxfam launched a £1 million appeal to help innocent people caught up in the fighting.

Southern Lebanon was also very badly affected. Security in Gaza worsened following heavy shelling, and rocket attacks on northern Israel damaged buildings and businesses.

Look at this place, this used to be a school and now there is nothing left. I feel so much pain seeing my school reduced to nothing. I have no idea how we are going to rebuild it.
