Festival reviews 2007
Oxfam's first festival experience at Summer Sundae 2007.
Summer Sundae
Thank you to everyone who came along and helped out Oxfam at this years Summer Sundae Festival, which helped to raise further money towards Oxfam's work.
First time stewarding for us at Summer Sundae this year, and first impressions were good. It's hard to imagine a festival located in a city, but based in the grounds of De Montford Hall and gardens, the festival somehow doesn't feel city like at all. The weather helped too, which somehow managed to break the pattern of the season and provide plenty of sunshine and NO MUD!!
Heading the line-up was Magic Numbers, Divine Comedy and Spiritualised, but there was plenty of other interesting acts to see from Gruff Rhys, Pigeon detectives, and Echo and the Bunnymen to new 2007 festival regular Seasick Steve, the Broken Family Band and DJ Yoda in the indoor stage.
We had a small team of around 100 stewards on site this year, with stewards positioned across the site from the campsites to the main stages. Thursday was the main arrival day, and with the briefing out the way by the evening, for some it was straight on to an open top tour bus for a trip into Leicester - organised by the festival for the total of £1! This was a really good addition to the weekend. By Friday morning the main stewarding kicked into action and continued on until Sunday evening, with everyone on top form both in and out of the sunshine.
With a strong line up and a really good atmosphere, Summer Sundae proved a great new addition to our festival calendar. Thanks again for all your hard work.
