An evening event for everyone
The Sunset Walk is a short stroll with a big heart. It’s your chance to take part in the season of Ramadan. To make new friends as you walk and talk – and raise money to provide food for poor communities worldwide.
It’s the most sociable and laidback fundraising you’ll ever do. The route passes through four royal parks – St. James, Green Park, Hyde Park and Regents Park. And when the sun goes down, you’ll share a fabulously tasty meal at the London Central Mosque.
All the money you raise will go to a variety of food aid projects.
What’s it all about?
This walk is for everybody!
The forthcoming month of Ramadan is a time for fasting, reflection, doing
good things, and for spending time with family and friends. Throughout the
month of Ramadan Muslims do not eat or drink during the hours of daylight.
This time of fasting reminds Mu
slims, among other things, that not everyone
in the world has enough to eat. As well as fasting, people make charitable
donations which will pay for food for poor communities around the world.
As Ramadan draws to a close everything steps up a gear and everyone prepares for a massive celebration to mark the end of the fast (Eid ul-Fitr). Lots of fun and food – and a good time for all. This year, Ramadan starts at the beginning of September – with the Eid ul-Fitr celebrations taking place
from 1- 3 October.

Where your money will go
The increasing costs of basics like rice, corn and wheat mean that the world’s poorest people are suffering most.
Oxfam and Muslim Aid have already implemented many food and nutrition programmes across the world, and are committed to helping communities find solutions to food shortages.
The funds raised will be divided equally by Muslim Aid and Oxfam and used to support this area of work.
