Make It Happen: Ban Cluster Bombs

Cluster bombs can be banned

Cluster munitions cause a huge number of civilian casualties and deaths - call for a ban on these deadly weapons.

Cluster munitions are weapons that scatter many ‘bomblets’ over a large area. Anybody within that area is very likely to be killed or injured. Often, they fail to explode, and like landmines, continue to make an area unsafe for years to come, exploding when hit with a tool while farming or when children pick them up and play with them.

Say ‘no’ now

During May this year, governments from around the world are meeting in Dublin to negotiate a new and vitally important treaty to ban cluster bombs.

As a member of the Cluster Munition Coalition, Oxfam is joining other organisations in leading the campaign for a ban on these deadly weapons. This is fantastic progress towards a treaty that will save thousands of lives.

We urgently need your support to help make sure the UK government supports this process and negotiates for a strong treaty.
