campaign with us at festivals
campaign with us at festivals: 2007

Campaigning at Bestival, Isle of Wight.

Help us raise awareness about Oxfam’s work and campaigns at this year’s summer festivals – and get in for FREE!

It’s nearly summer, so that means only one thing – an annoying Europop tune at Number 1. Much better than that, it also means the Oxfam Generation Why team is hitting the road for the festival season. We’re at all the major UK festivals, bringing our own brand of feel-good, comfy-sofa-ness direct to you, in the middle of a muddy field. The main reason we’re at festivals is to raise awareness of Oxfam’s work and our campaigns – and we need campaigning volunteers like YOU to help us.

what do we do at festivals?

Oxfam campaigners huddle around our little green camper at V Festival.

Oxfam has a big marquee at most festivals, giving punters the chance to rest their weary feet with Fairtrade coffee and tunes mixed by our resident DJs. Our friendly campaigners spend the day chatting to festival-goers about Oxfam’s work. In the evening, the music steps up a notch or two, and people dance the night away – long after the main acts have disappeared to their cushy dressing rooms with a bottle or two of champagne.

who are we looking for?

Campaigning is good fun, but hard work. You’ll probably enjoy the experience more if you’re an out-going, chatty person, and you need to be honest and reliable – you will be representing Oxfam and the festival to thousands of people. It would also be helpful to have some interest in Oxfam’s campaign issues. You need to be over 18, agree to comply with timing requirements – no exceptions – and work one 4-hour campaigning shift per day.
